Alejandro Muñoz Miranda, Doctor of Architecture, talks to us about the MÁLAGA MULTI-FAMILY BUILDING, a project carried out using the Strugal Compact, S53RP+, S125RP, and S86RP systems.
A project that has received the following awards:

  • Malaga Architecture Award 2018-2020.
  • Finalist in the 2019 FAD Awards.
  • Finalist DEEZEN AWARDS 2019.
  • Finalist in the 2019 BIGMAT AWARDS.
  • Finalist ARCHDAILY AWARDS 2020.
  • Selected for the 15th Spanish Architecture and Urban Planning Biennial.

Alejandro Muñoz Miranda holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Granada. First National End-of-Year Award granted by the Ministry of Education in 1999. 2000-2003 Research and University Teaching Training Grant from the Ministry of Education.

Research internship (2002-2003) at Columbia University under the supervision of Kenneth Frampton for the development of his doctoral thesis, which he completed in 2011 under the title “The Use of Technique in the Conception of Architecture: Towards a Tectonic Ethics,” obtaining the “Excellent Cum Laude” classification.

Professor of Architectural Projects since 2007, Deputy Director of International Relations from 2016 to 2020, and Deputy Director of Culture and Students from 2000 to present at the Granada School of Architecture.

In 2000, he exhibited at the VII Venice Architecture Biennale, curated by Alberto Campo Baeza, and in 2008 he was selected for the exhibition “Young Architects of Spain (JAE-YAS)” organized by the Ministry of Housing, which has already toured Europe and America. In 2013, his work was selected for the 12th Spanish Architecture and Urbanism Biennale and was a finalist in the 9th Arquia/Thesis Biennial Competition of the Caja de Arquitectos Foundation.

It is the “García de Paredes” Award for the best building constructed between 2005 and 2008, presented by the Official Association of Architects of Granada.

In 2018, he published a bilingual book entitled “El espacio entre el cielo y la tierra” (The Space Between Heaven and Earth) with the publisher Nobuko-Diseño Editorial. In 2019, his work was a finalist in the FAD AWARDS in the architecture category, the DEZEEN AWARDS, and the BIGMAT awards. In 2020, he won the Malaga Architecture Award from the Official Association of Architects of Malaga for the best built work 2018-2020 and was also a finalist for the best built work in ARCHDAILY and Plataforma Arquitectura.

He won and was a finalist in several national and international architecture competitions.

His built work has been published in numerous national and international indexed magazines such as Arquitectura Viva, AV, 2G, On Diseño, Metalocus, Detail, Bauwelt, Mark, Speech, Arhitectura, AIT Magazine, AMC Le Moniteur, Plot, and others, as well as in books published by international publishers Gustavo Gili, Pencil, Loft, Links, and Daab.
