Description
Two towers. A podium. A plaza in between.
Located in Madrid, the proposal does more than just address a social housing program: it creates a sense of community. A perimeter green belt connects to the pedestrian promenade, the arcades blur the boundary between inside and outside, and the community plaza invites play and neighborhood life.
The base appears solid yet permeable at the same time: large openings provide views from one side to the other. The towers, on the other hand, play with light: during the day, the shutters open to capture the outdoors; at night, they close and provide protection. Opaque toward the street, generous toward the interior—where a landscaped courtyard brings nature back to the heart of the building.
